Exciting Adventures of Recent Times.

Whew! There's been a lot going on at Louhelen. I feel so close to this place, more than I thought I would at this point. We've gone so many places and done such fun things!

So here are some events that have gone down in the last few weeks...

Dinner at Tammy's, the housekeeping coordinator:
Sewing in the art room with a machine from 1941!
Making my own apron from a fun old dress:
Making a sign for the girls' dorm:
Admiring the autumn colors and the changing leaves:
Going for runs throughout this gorgeous forest:
Soaking in the last bits of sunshine:
Welcoming our new roommate Lisa, from Germany!(on right)
Seeing my first glimpses of Chicago as we drove to the Temple in Wilmette:
Gawking at the beauty of Lake Michigan on the shores of Chicago:
Taking a good family portrait at the Temple with the youth:
Praying and resting in the beautiful Baha'i Temple:
Visiting the best city in Michigan, Grand Rapids!
Seeing a salmon being caught by this guy in Grand Rapids!
Exploring Grand Rapids and its beauty:
 Admiring the city again...
Walking to the amazing public museum across the river from the Food Show in GR:
Taking in all the wonderful art in the streets and along the river in GR:
 Playing music in the street:

I have photos of the art at the museum in Grand Rapids, too...I'll put them on facebook. We had a really wonderful weekend last week - we went to the Temple in Chicago and the next day went to the Gordon Food Show in Grand Rapids...it was a lot of driving for two days. But it was certainly worth the trip! Plus, Harriet and I packed vegetables in the car and healthy snacks, so there was no need for yucky fast food on our part! Yeah!
Also, I decided to become vegan a couple of weeks ago. I'll admit, the food here is delicious and I love making it! But I learned that for now, veganism is the best way for me to go. Don't worry though, I've got plenty of supplementary vitamins and minerals, and I don't plan on going crazy with this new way of eating.
Oh, and Lisa is vegetarian! Harriet and I love having her in our room. I think we all make a good team, and our room has been gradually decorated and looks quite lovely. We had a big Persian session here this weekend, and I even had amazing vegan ghormeh sabzi! Yummm. I plan on doing more sewing as well: Harriet and I have plans to make lovely purses and hem older clothes. I even got a rice sack from the Persian rice this weekend and intend to turn into a cool bag. :)
This week will be a good time for relaxation...we have a big banquet on Tuesday, but besides that we're not too busy until Friday!
All my love to Oregon and Australia. I'll write again soon!
